Child’s grave is the oldest human burial found in Africa

    in Chapter 8

In Chapter 7 we discussed how "in 1997, archaeologists discovered a large number of similar bones from about 400,000 years ago at the bottom of a deep pit in the Sima de los Huesos cave at Atapuerca in Northern Spain." Curiously, similar burial sites have been hard to come by in Africa, but a new discovery extends the time frame for ritual burials in Africa at least back to 100,000 bce. Read about it in National Geographic: . The Journal article can be found here: https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-021-00805-6.
