The Ministry of Funny Noises - Richard K. Thomas
00:00
We've developed several classes utilizing Cycling '74's Max/MSP/Jitter software. In this particular class, we required each student to develop a new electronic musical instrument over the course of the semester, utilizing a controller of their own choosing, which we would use in an improvised concert at the end of the semester.
Our final project was a performance in Purdue's Mallett Theatre, which would feature guest artists Gregory Taylor, Product Specialist from Cycling '74, and my old business partner, Brad Garton, who had made quite a name for himself as the head of the Computer Music Center at Columbia University.
This recording is Greg and Brad's headlining performance in which they invited me to mutilate my guitar so they could manipulate the sounds into interesting improvisations.
